

Dental Sleep Medicine: Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treatment Made Easy
Course Synopsis
Presenter: Jamison Spencer, DMD, M.S.
Sleep therapy can be one of the most rewarding services in the dental practice, as clinicians can play a critical role in helping to improve their patients’ overall health and quality of life. In this two-day course, attendees will learn a simplified technique for quickly incorporating provisional sleep treatment into the general practice. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of how to screen for sleep apnea, as well as how to obtain sleep apnea diagnosis, gain patient acceptance and provide the proper oral appliance. Participants will gain practical knowledge with hands-on, model-based exercises using various sleep appliances. Informed patient consent, medical billing and partnering with physicians will also be covered.

- Screen patients and identify snoring and sleep apnea issues
- Select the appropriate sleep appliance for provisional treatment
- Implement bite registration and properly adjust oral appliances
- Recognize, manage and prevent potential side effects of oral appliance therapy
- Understand the informed consent process
- Assess the pros and cons of medical billing
- Learn how to become profitable without accepting medical insurance
- Build relationships to increase physician referrals
